Don't Touch My Hat!!!!

Monday Jake had a T-ball game. He was playing out field and it was extremely windy. His hat blew off his head and a team mate by the name of Steven thought it would be fun to play keep away with Jake's hat. Unfortunately for Steven that was a very bad idea. Jake is very mild tempered until you mess with something that is important to him. The kid would throw Jake's hat and Jake would run to get it,then the kid would throw it further. Jake had enough and leaped and tackled the kid. Jake was on top of him, wrestling him, kicking the kids butt. Finally one of the assistant coaches had to pull Jake off of the kid. Jake said "I told him not to touch my hat"!!! The next inning the coach put Jake on the other side of the field. I don't condone fighting. However I think Jake was only doing what I would have loved to do. I think Steven will think before he messes with Jake. I asked Jake what happened later on and he didn't want to talk about it. I tried to explain to him that the wind probably blew his hat off,and when it did Steven picked it up and started throwing it. Jake thought Steven had taken it off his head, and made him upset. Wow! Ya never know what kind of excitement your in for at a T-ball game.

I really wish I would have captured that moment on film. It would have been priceless!

The Elderly Couple

I am so embarrassed! We don't see patients between 12-3 it gives me time to get paperwork done, such as billing and posting payments. We did have a patient scheduled today for 2:30. She's a young girl that comes over directly from work. So I was in the back doing my paperwork and saw someone pull in. I knew it wasn't the patient we were expecting. This car pulled half way in and no one got out for awhile. I decided to walk up front and see if I could recognize who it was. Dr. Fred was sitting in his office and hollered at me.."Who is it?" I said I wasn't sure, but it was an elderly couple. I saw a older man try to get out. I was standing in the door way of Dr. Fred's office and told him it was a really old couple. Well low and behold it was Fred's parents. I haven't seen them in quite awhile. His mother looked the same ,but his father looked different. They live in Howe and don't come to town that often. Dr. Fred said "Lori it's my mom and dad"! I told him to just shoot me. OK so they finally come in and we're talking and everything is OK. So after Fred works on them they come back to talk to me again. Anna his mother tells me "Fred told us what you said". I apologized and said I felt horrible. She laughed. I tried to explain that I couldn't see who it was and that we were waiting for a girl and BLAHBLAHBLAH. Oh man how embarrassing!

The Elderly Couple

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

An elderly husband and wife noticed that they were beginning to forget many little things around the house. They were afraid that this could be dangerous, as one of them may accidently forget to turn off the stove and thus cause a fire.

So, they decided to go see their physician to get some help. Their physician told them that many people their age find it useful to write themselves little notes as reminders.

The elderly couple thought this sounded wonderful, and left the doctor's office very pleased with the advice.

When they got home, the wife said, "Dear, will you please go to the kitchen and get me a dish of ice cream? And why don't you write that down so you won't forget?"

"Nonsense," said the husband, "I can remember a dish of ice cream!"

"Well," said the wife, "I'd also like some strawberries on it. You better write that down, because I know you'll forget."

"Don't be silly," replied the husband. "A dish of ice cream and some strawberries. I can remember that!"

"OK, dear, but I'd like you to put some whipped cream on top. Now you'd really better write it down now. You'll forget," said the wife.

"Come now, my memory's not all that bad," said the husband. "No problem--a dish of ice cream with strawberries and whipped cream."

With that, the husband shut the kitchen door behind him. The wife could hear him getting out pots and pans, and making some noise inconsistent with his preparing a dish of ice cream, strawberries, and whipped cream. He emerged from the kitchen about 15 minutes later.

Walking over to his wife, he presented her with a plate of bacon and eggs. The wife took one look at the plate, glanced up at her husband and said, "Hey, where's the toast?"

This is what I feel like lately!

Little Things That Matter Big

Yesterday I filled the pool with water and watched the kids play.I sat on our swing and read an interesting article. It really made me stop and think. Just a little thought I'd like to share with you.

Years ago,a woman received a big,cut-glass bottle of Chanel No. 5 perfume. She loved the fragrance, but would never wear it. She didn't think each day was special enough to wear the expensive perfume. When she thought about putting the perfume on,she would stop and say no today is just an ordinary day. The bottle of perfume eventually went rancid and died up. About the same time her mother dried. She went home for the funeral. When she opened her mother's closet she found a ratty old nightgown hanging on the hook, not the lovely silk one the daughter had bought her mother for her birthday. Her eyes filled up with tears when she discovered the silk nightgown still wrapped in tissue paper in her mother's drawer next to other pretty gowns she'd been "saving". In her bathroom she found threadbare, faded bath towel in use,and a cupboard full of nice towels. It broke the daughters heart to think her mother hadn't loved herself enough to enjoy her pretty things. Didn't she believe she deserved them?
Is there some unused perfume,or a favorite shirt or shoes you love but hardly ever wear, because your "saving" them? Dishes that are "too pretty to use"? Well nothing is ever too pretty to use. Stuff is stuff and can be gone in the blink of an eye. If a dish or coat makes you smile or feel better when you look at it,use it! Every morning declare your day will be 'special".

1 Beta 2 Beta

Our fabulous Friends the Foust Family went to Mexico for vacation and asked us to take care of their fish. They have 2 cats, two dogs and two fish. Nikki asked me who I'd like to take care of. I picked the fish. I know there's a reason why we don't have pets. To my surprise it hasn't been difficult taking care of the fish. We just have to remember to feed them twice a day. It has worked out nicely as a bribing device to get the kids to do stuff. For instance the first morning I told the kids who ever got dressed and ready the fastest could feed the fish. Whoever cleans up their rooms first, whoever eats all their dinner...well you get the picture. It has been fun for them to have a pet for a week.

In case you were wondering No we won't be getting our own any time soon.

Calling All Super Hero's

Jake is always dressing up as some sort of character. He helped his sister find this get up. They were saving the planet.

This picture cracked me up. He was trying to tell me this big long winded story and I took his picture in the middle of it.

Pluck their Guts

Papa Bill's little helper Marli...

Papa Bill has a tool that he uses to pick dandelions. Jake always used to say "Papa Bill let's go pick their guts". The kids love to carry the bucket and follow Grandpa. I'm not sure where Jake was when this was going on. Marli is happy to spend time with Grandpa and get to carry the bucket. The crazy thing is that bucket gets heavy after awhile. The kids never seem to mind though.

Jakey & Marli week in review

My mom got some pictures developed from her camera. These are a few of the kids.

Jacob playing catcher at one of his games. He did a great job. He said he didn't like it when all the people would yell at him to get the ball. He's pretty sensitive and thought they were mad at him. I tried to explain that they were just trying to help him.

It's been pretty hot lately. The kids cool off in the afternoon at grandma's in the pool.

Grandma bought the kids squirt guns. They enjoyed squirting Grandma. I wish I had a picture of her squirting them as well. My mom made the mistake of picking Marli up and throwing her in the pool. Now she wants her to do it a hundred times. She'll run and make Grandma catch her pick her up and then throw her in the pool. Good thing she's grandma's girl.

The kids hugging each other at Papa bill's and Grandma Bette's. Marli loves it when her brother gives her loves.
Here's some more pictures courtesy of Good O'le Grandma Bette.

Marli was excited to show Grandma her dance outfit.

Happy Father's Day

This is the card I made for Ryan. I thought it was appropriate it says confidential and has paper that has mathematical stuff on it like what he does at work.

Jacob learned how to write his brother Jaxon's name and signs it before his name. Priceless!

We made homemade pizza for Fathers Day dinner. Ryan had the kids help him. It was so fun to watch them. Ryan was trying to get some shelves made in the garage and took a break to come in and make pizza.

This is the card I made for my dad. I tried to match it to his Victory motorcycle.

3 Points of Contact

Ryan taught Jacob the three points of contact on a ladder. The boys had me come out to the garage so they could show me. If you take one hand off the ladder then your other hand and two feet must remain on the ladder. Three of your four hands and feet must remain contact with the ladder. So there ya have your ladder safety 101.

While Ryan was making shelves in the garage the kids were hanging out with dad.

Jacob was so excited his dad let him wear his safety glasses. He told me "Mom these glasses are extra special. Dad said I could wear them if I take good care of them". I tried hard to not laugh in his face.

Porter Park Fun

Friday Jesse turned two and had the coolest Birthday party at Porter Park in Rexburg. We'd never been there before. Jake and Marli saw the water and went straight for it.

Merry Go Round

There's a merry go round right there at the park. The kids were so excited to ride on it. It was a perfect ending to a fantastic party.

Look closely at this picture. Eric is making a funny face at Melissa and me. We stayed with Ashley while Ryan and Eric took Jake,Marli and Jesse for a ride.

Luke was so cute...he was curious about the water. He really wanted to touch it.

Ryan was so nice to take Marli up the stairs and show her how to go down the slide. He got soaked. Jake wouldn't go down the slide. He'd climb up half way then slide down.
